CENTER – The town of Center was rocked with music, a tailgate party, and a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new football field. The excitement all took place on Friday, Sept. 6, beginning at Center Town Park.   

MONTE VISTA – The San Luis Valley Potato Festival is less than a week away. This year’s festival will be held on Sept. 7 at Chapman Park in Monte Vista.

CENTER – On Aug. 4, the Town of Center and artist Bianca Maestas hosted a community mural paint by numbers event at the 300 block of Worth Street. People of all ages were invited to participate in this beautiful mural project. The Town of Center hosted it as a way to help beautify the downtown area. 

SAGUACHE – The annual Arts Walk and Hollyhock Festival was on Saturday, July 27. The festival began at 10 a.m. with many art vendors and residents in attendance. The sun was high in the sky, but there was also a light breeze that drifted in, as people walked up and down the streets, visiting art booths, making purchases, smiling, and socializing at the beautiful festival.

CENTER – On Saturday, July 20, a beautiful benefit lunch was held to help Cora Martinez with her medical and transport costs. Martinez was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma Cancer.

MONTE VISTA – Country singing legend Wynonna brought that “true country bass” to kick off the 102nd annual Ski-Hi Stampede. During her 90-minute set, she sang “I Hear You Knocking,” “I Know Where I Am Going,” “Rock Bottom,” and “Hey Good Looking,” all the while speaking casually with the crowd throughout the evening.
