Saguache County Sheriff’s Report for Oct. 22, 2020

SAGUACHE COUNTY - The following information was provided by the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office for the period between Sept. 27 and Oct. 18, 2020.

While managing positive COVID-19 cases in the jail, the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office had plenty of other activity to handle. Almost 200 calls in three weeks challenged staff.

Suspicious activity, harassment and criminal mischief accounted for 24 calls. The office received less than a dozen calls about civil disputes, trespassing and noise complaints. But helping suicidal subjects, theft, assault and burglary required a couple dozen visits across the county.

Although official hunting seasons are underway, poachers outside Villa Grove met authorities on Oct. 14. Five travelers sped through the county but stopped long enough to receive a ticket.

Arrests
• Benjamin Vasquez, 30, Moffat, unlawful distribution, manufacturing, display, sale, and cultivation of synthetic cannabinoids

• Levi Gallegos, 25, Saguache, resisting arrest following a failure to appear warrant
