Jerry 'Reedo' Reed, 69

COLORADO SPRINGS—Longtime Alamosa resident Jerry “Reedo” Reed, 69, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Penrose St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs.
Jerry was born in Clayton, N.M. the first son to George R. and Edith Dale Reed on Sept. 21, 1947.
Jerry worked for the Alamosa School District for almost 30 years. After his retirement from teaching he filled in as a substitute teacher. Jerry loved kids and taught thousands throughout the years. Teaching and nurturing the students was his life’s work. He loved travelling all around, especially overseas trips. In his spare time, he played chess, enjoyed crossword puzzles and spent many hours reading and writing.
Jerry is survived by his stepmother Connie Reed of Cochiti, N.M.; his brothers and sisters Jim (Jennifer Gutierrez) Reed of Corrales, N.M., Annie (Kyle) Medders and Kenny (Tiffany) Reed, both of Rio Rancho, N.M. and Judy (Jack) McGowan of Santa Fe, N.M.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and school family.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Edith, his brother Johnny Reed and his nephew Ben Medders.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Gathering was held Saturday, April 22 at the Alamosa High School Football Field, in which he was so instrumental in working for.
