Homecoming

Center freshman ride in the float they made for the homecoming parade.

We held our annual Open House on Sept.18. A big thanks to Mr. Andy Hawkins for coordinating the event.  We had a great turnout.  Staff, students and families had the opportunity to get to know each other, eat, socialize and win some great prizes.  Thanks to everyone who helped to make the night a success for our school and community.
Last week was Homecoming!  There were many events for students, staff and the community to take part in and celebrate being a Viking!  Wednesday was our first ICAP day for the year. ICAP days are designed to give our students time to work on their post-secondary and career readiness skills. This ICAP day our students, thanks to the CPYD team, had fun activities planned that included team competitions, self-reflections and career planning.
Students also had the chance to listen to Reggie Rivers, former Bronco player, as he delivered a motivational message related to the lessons he learned through his NFL experience and the impact of being an influential leader.  Students were released early, so that staff could take part in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).  The staff also had the opportunity to hear Reggie Rivers speak about teamwork and leadership.  The rest of the afternoon was spent team building and networking during golf and corn hole competitions.  It was a great day for our team!
Thursday afternoon was our Homecoming Parade.  It’s always impressive to see the floats the classes put together.  This is a long-standing Center tradition!  The volleyball girls fought hard against Sargent Thursday afternoon.  Unfortunately, they didn’t come up with the win, but they are improving week-by-week and we will get them next time! All through the week, students and staff dressed up to celebrate the Seasons to Remember!
Friday night was the big football game.  The Recruitment and Retention Team hosted a tailgate party.  Everybody came together to show their Viking Pride!  Staff and fans had a chance to get some Viking swag, barbecue, and play some more corn hole!!  The tunes were jamming and the food was great!  Thanks to the junior class for hooking us up with some burgers and dogs!
Fast Forward
This week will be business as usual.  Count week is upon us so it’s very important that we have due diligence with our attendance all this week, and especially Tuesday.
We will have our monthly District Leadership Team meeting this afternoon.  During this time, we will be reviewing and updating our District Action Plan based on the information received from our performance frameworks and state assessments.  Information will be shared with the rest of the staff through Building Leadership Teams and our next PLC.
I appreciate everyone’s commitment to excellence in ALL you do, every day!  Here’s to a great week!
