Harry A. Fluck

Harry A. Fluck was born in Marion, Ill., on Jan. 19, 1940, and was the second of seven children born to Alfred “Mutt” Fluck and Ida Broeking Fluck. He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Ill., in 1962 with a Bachelor’s of Science, and received his Master’s in Forest Management from Michigan State University in 1969 after serving in the Air Force for a 5-year tour.

In 1965, he met and married Patricia “Pat” K. Chrouch Fluck in Germany while serving his tour of duty in the Air Force. After returning to the States and achieving his Master's, the couple moved to Steamboat Springs, Colo., where Harry began his career with the US Forest Service.

All three of the couple’s children were born there.

Harry and Pat finally settled in South Fork, Colo., in 1978 after being transferred all over Colorado, to raise their three children. In 1992, Harry was sworn in as the first Mayor of South Fork, and he proudly served multiple terms as both Mayor and Town Trustee.

Harry retired from the Forest Service in February 1995, and received a phone call shortly before his retirement party that his first grandchild was being born. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, spending time with family and friends, and ATVing in the forest he loved.

Harry is survived by his wife Pat, his children — Henry Fluck (Tammy Bur Fluck), James Richards (Amber Robinson) and Ellie Fluck, and his grandchildren — Hank Fluck (Amber Jones Fluck), Dane Fluck, and Zackary Richards, and his brothers and sisters — Louis Fluck, Susie Tregoning (Dennis Tregoning), Linda Eckols, Judy Peebles (John Peebles) and John Fluck (Janice Fluck).

He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred “Mutt” Fluck and Ida Broeking Fluck, and his brother Phillip Fluck.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at the Chapel of the South Fork, Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. followed by an Ice Cream Social to celebrate Harry’s life. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com.
