CENTER — Center Police Department Police Chief Dale Meek held his monthly Coffee with the Chief event on Saturday, June 18.

The event was held at Center Town Hall and was well attended by the community. CPD Sgt. Aaron Fresquez presented a check for $100 to the winner of the K-9 t-shirt design competition, Alanna Lexi Garcia, a student at Center Consolidated Schools.

Her winning design will be printed on the shirts, benefiting the CPD K-9 unit.

According to Fresquez, “We want to thank all those who participated in the competition. Lexi’s design was the best fit for us, but all of them were great.”

Chief Meek also discussed the current crime trends around the Center area and listened to questions from the people in attendance regarding what they feel are the biggest crime problems occurring in town. The most discussed subject was the recent rise in fentanyl pills being seized.

After the coffee, most of the attendees went to Casa Blanca Park for a farewell lunch and party for VISTA Volunteer Keith Brockhurst.
