CCSD Board of Education recognized the SLV Health Sports Medicine team-: (R-L) Justin Fricke, Clinic Manager, Joe Stephens, PT, Ashley Voss, ATC, and Carrie Zimmerman, Center Schools Superintenden

CENTER — Center Consolidated School District recognized and thanked SLV Health and specifically the Sports Medicine Team for their commitment to our students’ health and wellness.  The SLV team took part in our CHAMP (Children’s Health and Management System) day during student registration and gave our students the chance to receive health screenings.  Thanks to the SLV Health Sports Medicine Team, over 125 of our students took advantage of this service and received free physicals.
This was a great opportunity for our students and a generous service that the Sports Medicine Team provided to us.  They took time out of their offices to come to Center and give our students the opportunity to be seen by a medical professional.  The Sports Medicine team partners with our district in other ways as well.  They often attend our sporting events to provide medical support and coverage. We appreciate their dedication to their profession and the positive impact that it has on our students and community.
We held our first Meet the Board on Tuesday night before the monthly BOE meeting.  Our new staff had the chance to get to know the board members on a more informal basis.  The Recruitment and Retention team put together some great food and fancy refreshments for the staff and the board to enjoy in the library.  A special thanks to Lupita Ortega, Cheryl Garcia, Sophia Ortega, Adele Alfson and her culinary arts class, for the beautiful decorations and delicious food.  It was quite a treat for everyone who attended.
Our senior block students from Adams State University (ASU) were on campus for their orientation and they also were able to participate in the meet and greet and stayed for the board meeting. The ASU students will be starting their practicum hours in the classroom on Tuesday, Sept. 17.  We are excited to have the students in the classrooms supporting our students and teachers.
