Two Rattlers qualify for state race

EAGLE, Colo.— The Rio Grande Rattlers Composite Mountain Bike Team finished up a very successful season at the Colorado State Championship Haymaker course in Eagle, Colo. on Sunday, Oct. 22.
Two members of the first-year Rattlers qualified for the state race.
Cameron Roberts (Monte Vista High School) started in the 14th position and blazed to a 12th place finish out of 100 freshmen riders, missing a 10th place podium finish by just 4 seconds.  His time for the twelve mile race was 53:02:37.
Sophomore Kristen David (Sargent High School), started in 39th place and passed thirteen racers on her way to finish in 26th place in the state with a time of 1:12:02 on the two lap, 12-mile course.
Team mates Devin Arrellano, Rand Kidd and Ryan Astalos made the trip to Eagle to support Cameron and Kristen along with Head Coach Brian Stevenson, Team Director Larry Roberts, assistant coaches Kathy Dailey and Mark Skinner and team mechanic Eric Sutter. Team members who were not able to make the trip to Eagle included Jackson Mumper, Daniel Macias and Landon Tolsma.
The Rio Grande Rattlers Inaugural season could not have been possible without the support of all the team sponsors and the riders’ parents who contributed food and drinks, camping equipment and transportation.
