SAN LUIS VALLEY — On June 6, the Sangre de Cristo Peaks 4-H Club planted flowers in planters on Worth Street in Center.
The members — Ashlyn Rockey, Makenzie Consaul, Jordan Lobato, Ellaree Rockey, Matthew Voss, and Rayna Gonzalez — filled 36 pots with beautiful flowers and the promise of summer.
Center Town Manager Joan Mobley stated, “They did such a wonderful job. People keep remarking on how lovely the flower pots look.”
At the May meeting of the Sangre de Cristo Peaks 4-H Club the seven members made 20 toiletry bags. Each member brought 20 of an item they thought would be a blessing – toothpaste, toothbrush, washcloth, sunscreen, lip balm, soap, deodorant, comb. Each of these items were placed in a gallon zip lock bag and club members loaded the bags into a box that they delivered to Miss Delsa at Valley Wide Health’s Farm Workers Program.
Each of the members presented a demonstration to those in attendance:
Jordan Lobato – soil sampling
Kristine Hoffner – home made silly putty
Ashlyn Rockey – ballet bun
Matthew Voss – gun safety
Rayna Gonzales – rainbow loom bracelet
Ellaree Rock – peanut butter and jelly sandwich
Makenzie Consaul – inserting contact lenses
