Red Cross Opens an Evacuation Shelter for Decker Fire

Denver, Tuesday, October 2, 2019, 9:30 a.m. – The Red Cross has opened a shelter in response to evacuation orders for the Decker Fire. The shelter is located at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds, 10165 Co Rd 120, Salida, CO 81201. Pets can be taken to the Ark-Valley Humane Society, 701 Gregg Dr., Buena Vista 81211. The phone is 719-395-2737. Large animals can be taken to the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.

At the shelter, there is fire information along with food, snacks, and other refreshments. Red Cross volunteers are on the scene and can provide health and mental health services.
