CENTER - Kristine Hoffner, of Center, received the Colorado State Fair Foundation Outstanding Youth Service Award Oct. 19 at the Foundation’s fall fundraiser, The Sip, in Colorado Springs. The mission of the Colorado State Fair Foundation (CSFF) is to enhance youth programming, education and experiences at the Colorado State Fair. This award recognizes the exceptional leadership of an individual youth that reflects a generosity of spirit and the highest quality work. In her acceptance speech, Hoffner spoke of being humbled that she was chosen and was grateful for the many opportunities that she has been given to serve the Colorado community.
The CSFF found Kristine’s many years of involvement in 4-H and contributions to the State Fair to be what they were looking for in an honoree. Hoffner has spent one week each summer for the past four years to volunteer at the Fair as a teen clerk. She has exhibited over 40 4-H projects, spent over 400 hours in community service, and held every office on the club, county and district level. Her 4-H experience culminated in serving as the Colorado State 4-H President. Kristine is a Senior at Center High School and a concurrent student at Adams State University in preparation for a nursing degree.
