SAGUACHE COUNTY — Raids were conducted by the Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR) Aug. 20 on County Road 55 and County Road 59 to seize equipment and trimmings from marijuana cultivators not abiding by state law.
Saguache County Sheriff Dan Warwick said his office received new information from DOR about illegal and out-of-compliance operations about 10 days before the raid occurred. Warwick told DOR he would assist in the raids. Undersheriff Jim McCloskey was on scene during the seizures.
In addition, the DEA, the regional drug task force and the Colorado State Patrol hazardous materials unit also provided assistance during the raids. A helicopter, spotted and reported by local travelers, was used to provide air coverage.
One operation was extracting oils and using manufacturing equipment to produce edibles. The processing equipment and about 100 pounds of marijuana were seized during the raids. A U-Haul truck then transported the items taken during the raid to the Saguache Sheriff’s Office.
No further information from the Department of Revenue was available at press time.
