CRESTONE—Crestone WinterFest is coming Dec. 1-3 and it looks like another wonderful event is in store for Crestone residents and visitors alike!
On Friday, Dec. 1, activities will begin in the town of Crestone with a WinterFest kick-off party with a special Crestone Artisan's Gallery event, "I'd Rather Have Chocolate" from 4 to 6 p.m. and showcasing a miniature show of art and raffled jewelry by Sasha Lovelace. The Crestone Mercantile is hosting a fundraiser dinner at Bob's Diner for Pet Partners from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with the ever-popular traditional tree lighting to follow.
The WinterFest activities shift to the Crestone Charter School, 330 E. Lime Ave, on Saturday and Sunday with the Crestone Holiday Bazaar in the Rainbow Hall of the School. Hours for the bazaar are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Festivities include live holiday music provided by Alycia Chambers, Nick Chambers and Steve Storm throughout both days with Christmas melodies and music easy to shop by. Santa will stop by to have personal chats with all the kids at 2 p.m. each day. Scrumptious food will be available at the kitchen both days provided by Gracie's Farmstead.
For Saturday and Sunday morning, assortment of enjoy fresh baked pastries and quiche, hot organic coffee, and iced dirty chai. Saturday and Sunday lunch choices include sweet potato samosas with cucumber yogurt sauce and mixed greens salad, curried chickpea stew over coconut rice with peanuts and fresh cilantro, and Lentil dal, coconut rice and creamed spinach with flatbread.
Come browse and shop for a wide variety of quality gift items from area artists, including local arts and crafts, quality handcrafted imports, baked goods, home and personal treasures to include jewelry, clothing, soaps, chocolates and homemade goodies, woodworking, art and more. Reminiscent of an Old World bazaar, they are expecting up to 30 artists and crafts people this year.
Also in the line-up for Saturday is an outdoor bonfire hosted by Nathan Good at the mosaic plaza in the Town Park in downtown Crestone from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with yummy s'mores, hot drinks and holiday snacks. Other activities will be added to the festivities as they are confirmed including a visit by the famous Crestone Pirate Ship decked out with Christmas lights and holiday caroling.
Both Saturday and Sunday will include free admission, door prizes both days, kids’ activities and more!
