Center residents hurt in truck crash


SAN LUIS VALLEY — The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one car crash located on Highway 112 resulting in serious injury to the driver and injury to the passenger of the vehicle.


At approximately 5:46 p.m. Sept. 8, 2020, a white 2008 Ford pickup truck driven by Valentina Gutierrez 51 and a juvenile passenger 15, both of Center, were traveling westbound on Highway 112 at milepost 21. The Gutierrez vehicle lost control on the snowy roadway and traveled across the eastbound lane of Highway 112 rotating clockwise one-quarter turn before traveling off the south side of the roadway rolling once and coming to rest against an embankment on its wheels. Both the driver and her juvenile passenger were transported by ambulance to the Rio Grande Hospital to be treated for moderate to serious injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time.
