Center parade a big hit this year

CENTER — Some years the Center parade has been a little on the small side with only a few floats and Santa as the main feature of the parade. Not so this year, with the most floats entered since the parade began several years ago.
The parade saw a big turnout with the Rainbow’s End float winning first place $100; Headstart’s float, second place, $75 and United Methodist Church’s float, third place, $50.
Santa gave away all his sacks of candy at the gazebo in Casa Blanca Park following the parade. The Kiwanis Club sponsored the giveaway of 60 plus prizes at the gazebo, including 20 hams, a cassette player/recorder, a DVD player, tools, toys for kids and ball caps.
The Kiwanis Club sponsors the parade each year and the town of Center contributes funds for prizes. The Kiwanis Club also sponsors the Sharing Christmas put together by Center High School’s Key Club.
