CENTER — The Town of Center held its yearly End Of Summer Extravaganza on Saturday, Aug. 28, in Casa Blanca Park.

The festival began with a tie-dye parade at 11 a.m. that included many local businesses and individuals showing off their best tie-dye.

The streets around the park were blocked off, which created a safe and fun block-party feel. A stage was set up in front of the park on the street, and a trapeze was erected in the open grassy area.

Food vendors were plentiful, offering all types of dishes and there was a beer tent for the adults to enjoy. Tacos, popcorn, hot dogs and sno cones were consumed by people in attendance.

The water park portion of the park was filled with children and some adults taking the chance to cool off on the hot summer day.

There were vendors from around the Valley offering their goods for sale. Homemade items, fine art, crafts, beauty products, boutique clothing and other items were bought by those enjoying the day.

“It’s wonderful to be out on this fine day,” stated one vendor.

Some vendors reported robust sales, and expressed that they were happy to participate. The vendors were sourced specifically from local businesses and individuals, which helps to support Center’s economic growth.

The Salida Circus performed on the trapeze, with high-flying athleticism on display. One member of the circus rode around the festival on a unicycle while juggling, to the delight of the families in attendance.

According to their website, the “Salida Circus is Colorado's most unique troupe of stilt walkers, aerialists, acrobats, magicians, jugglers and balloon twisters! Established in 2007, Salida Circus has performed throughout Colorado.”

There were several live music performances, including Valiboyz, DJ Big Sexy, Slo Burn, and Tino Y Su Marka.
