Audrey Mae Worley, 90

MONTE VISTA— Audrey Mae Worley of Monte Vista passed away on Jan. 7, 2019 at the Rio Grande Hospital.  
She was born May 21, 1928 in Grand Marsh, Wisc. to Arrah and Lawrence Woodbury. She had three brothers; Lawrence Jr., Kenneth and Lyle (Marie) Woodbury of Boise, Idaho.  
Audrey met Carl Leland Worley while attending the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo., where she attained a degree in elementary education. They were married on Jan. 31, 1953. They eventually returned to the San Luis Valley to farm. They raised five daughters: Annette, Kerry, Carla, Gail and Yvonne. Annette and Tom Hosmann live in Springfield, Mo.; Kerry Worley lives in Columbus, Ga.; Carla Worley lives in Monte Vista; Gail and Bob Mattive live in Monte Vista, and Yvonne and Lee Seaman live in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Audrey was a talented artist in so many mediums. She was very creative and loved oil painting, watercolor and china painting. She was a wonderful seamstress, making many of the dresses her 5 girls wore in their youth. She later took to quilting and loved that as well. She was a member of the Alpine Artists, the San Luis Valley Quilt Guild, the Sargent Mary Martha’s and used to dance with the Pinon Nuts Square Dance Club.  
Audrey enjoyed spending time with her nine grandchildren watching them grow into adults.  She also has 10 great grandchildren: Matthew (Samantha) Smartt (Dali and Tristen) of Monte Vista; Chris Hosmann of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; Grant (LaRae) Mattive (Lane and Cason) of Monte Vista; Andrea (Nick) Denning (Brooke, Layla) of Littleton, Colo.; Marcia (Eric) Stephens (Kimaya, Kierin, Kalena) of Australia; Megan (Brandon) Cleghorn of Monte Vista; Tim Hosmann of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; Michelle (Curtis) Jones (Emma) of El Paso, Texas and Reid Mattive of Monte Vista.
Audrey is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lawrence Jr. and Kenneth.
A visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 11 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Sargent Community Church. Interment followed services on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 at the Homelake Veterans Cemetery.  Contributions are suggested to the Sargent Community Church in her memory.
