Arnold Jasper Ortega, 53

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Arnold Ortega, 53 of Grand Junction, Colo. passed away peacefully on April 3, 2017.
He was the son of Felix and Regina Ortega of Monte Vista, born March 16, 1964 in Alamosa.
Arnold worked for many years as a maintenance technician for Grand Junction Housing Authority. He was a talented athlete as he loved boxing and competed in the Silver Gloves as a teenager. He was also a very good left-handed baseball pitcher in Old Timers baseball. Arnold enjoyed spending time with his family and loved fishing and hunting in the great outdoors.
Arnold is survived by his son Isaac (Cristiel), wife Debbie, grandson Gabriel and granddaughters Aniyah and Nia, all of Grand Junction. Siblings include sisters Monica, San Diego, Calif. and Jessica, Salt Lake City, Utah. Brothers Don (Janet), Eugene (Joyce), of Monte Vista; John, Grand Junction; Vincent (Lupita) Center; Alex, Denver and Dario (Jennifer) Espanola, N.M. He is also survived by over 60 nephews and nieces who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and one brother Robert and sister Roberta.
A celebration of his life took place in Grand Junction on April 8. A ceremony in Monte Vista will take place at a later date.
