Are special interests driving candidates in Lazy KV election?

SAGUACHE COUNTY — Emails from concerned residents living in Lazy KV Estates are questioning the truthfulness of an article which appeared in last week’s Center Post-Dispatch regarding a letter sent to Lazy KV homeowners earlier this month.
One resident said s/he never received the letter. S/he also observes that “the letters were only sent to people that they thought would believe their lies. This says the board uses scare tactics to intimidate people. I have never seen that. At the last meeting I did see a big guy using scare tactics to intimidate the secretary. He was yelling at her and stood up and got right next to her, acting like he was going to hit her.”
Another resident/homeowner commented that s/he “reads and keeps up with most goings-on on Facebook and the council meetings. I also have talked to a few other homeowners.
“Now two of the topics discussed in the article — the water and roads — are of special importance to [one candidate running for election to the board] and [the letter’s author]…”
S/he contends that both individuals are competing for contracts for these jobs. “One has an excavation company and wants to do the water taps for the KV and [the other] has a road grader and wants a contract to maintain the roads.” Now that the letters have been sent out, this has caused a rift between certain parties.
“They are trying to get on the board so now they are making false accusations against the current board.” This in order “to create anger against the board from other homeowners.”
This individual writing the second email clams s/he attended the last two meetings and that the first meeting was recorded with a camcorder but the second was not. After the first meeting, a KV Facebook group reportedly started asking why names running for the board were never put on letters sent to homeowners. The Facebook group is administered by the writer of the letter quoted in last week’s article, according to the email.
The email claims those running for office were not included in the letters sent to homeowners, but these names and brief bios for each candidate were included in the email sent to Valley Publishing, which was the basis for last week’s article.
The second email received this week states the candidate announcements were made on Facebook and not in the board meeting and “not a single person was nominated at the meeting.” Before the second meeting, the second emailer said, the initial letter writer featured in last week’s article allegedly recruited others from the Homeowners Association to help add names to the list of people running for office.
Allegedly, the claim was then made by this group that the board edited its video/audio recording of the meeting to eliminate the nomination of those candidates. “None of that happened — I was a witness at both meetings,” this week’s email correspondent wrote. “There is a lot more to this than you have been told.”
The Center Post-Dispatch will continue to cover any relevant developments in the KV Estates HOA election.
