CENTER — Center trustees passed a motion Tuesday to allow Town Clerk/ Treasurer Joan Mobley to sign documents engaging an attorney to apply for water augmentation for the town of Center in water court.
In January Mobley told trustees that rather than worrying about purchasing water to supplement its supply, the town could be in a position to sell it to other communities.
Mobley’s announcement came after town safety manager and building inspector Dave Mehaffie surveyed wells in the town and came up with some surprising conclusions. If all the wells he surveyed are still able to be pumped and are still adjudicated to the town, Center may have the capability of pumping up to seven billion gallons of water annually.
